Recently, with the operating current parameter reaching 2160.12 amperes, the world's first 35 kV kilometer level superconducting transmission demonstration project independently developed by Shanghai Cable Research Institute has successfully achieved full load operation, further breaking the record for the maximum actual operating capacity of commercial superconducting transmission projects in China.

      The demonstration project is located in Xuhui District, Shanghai, with a total length of 1.2 kilometers, connecting two substations. The core materials, technology, and equipment of the entire project are fully independent of intellectual property rights. Since its official operation in December 2021, it has been operating safely and stably for over 600 consecutive days, providing nearly 300 million kilowatt hours of power to 49000 users in core areas such as the Xujiahui commercial district and Shanghai Sports Center in Shanghai, setting a precedent for kilometer level superconducting cables operating in large urban core areas.
