The photovoltaic junction box mainly has two functions: the basic function is to connect the photovoltaic module and the load, draw out the current generated by the module and generate power. The additional function is to protect the component outgoing lines and prevent hot spot effects.

1. Connection

As a connector, the junction box serves as a bridge between solar modules and control devices such as inverters. The current generated by the solar module is led out and introduced into the electrical equipment through wiring terminals and connectors inside the junction box.

In order to minimize the loss of component power caused by the junction box, the conductive material used in the junction box requires a low resistance and a low contact resistance with the outgoing line of the busbar.

2. Protection

The protective function of the junction box includes three parts: one is to prevent hot spot effect through bypass diodes, protecting the battery cells and components; The second is to use special materials to seal and design waterproofing and fire prevention; The third is to reduce the working temperature of the junction box through special heat dissipation design, reduce the temperature of the bypass diode, and thereby reduce the loss of component power caused by its leakage current.
